BREAKING: Police Arrest Osun Journalist Hours After Shooting The Nation’s Correspondent

  • Police have arrested a journalist in Osun.

THE NATION REPORTERS reports that the operatives of Police in Osun have arrested a journalist and publisher of an online newspaper, “Adulawo News’, Mr. Fatai Akanji in Osogbo.

This is coming hours after the police allegedly shot a reporter with The Nation Newspaper, Toba Adedeji and one unidentified female student.

Some youths had assembled under Olaiya bridge in Osogbo to protest the alleged extrajudicial killing of one of them, identified as Abiola.

The protesters had blocked the road and prevented vehicular movement.

About 30 minutes after the protest, some police operatives stormed the scene and shot into the motley crowd and journalists covering the protest.

Meanwhile, the brother of the arrested journalist who is a deputy editor of Osun defender, Uthman Ismail, said his brother was arrested for video recording the rally where the journalist was shot.

Mr. Ismail said his brother was taken to Dugbe Police Station in Osogbo but was released after the police received a call from the Commissioner of Police.
