Soji Adagunodo’s Death: Osun PDP Nominates Ajisafe As Replacement For South West Chairman

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Osun State has nominated Mr. Kamarudeen Ajisafe, as a replacement for Mr. Soji Adagunodo, the erstwhile South West chairman of the party, who died in May.

This was revealed to our correspondent in a communique on Wednesday signed by the state PDP chairman, Mr. Sunday Bisi.

Bisi said Ajisafe’s choice was arrived at a stakeholders’ meeting of the party held in Osogbo.

Approval of Ajisafe’s nomination was however subject to the ratification of the national leadership of the party.

This online medium reports that Ajisafe is an ex-chairman of Irepodun Local Government, Osun State.

The party stakeholders also deliberated on the composition of the local government caretaker committee and resolved that one person each should be nominated from the 332 wards in the state for consideration.

The communique further read, “As directed by the national leadership of the party and in consultation with leaders of the party in the zone, the meeting nominated Barrister Ajisafe Kamarudeen to fill the vacant zonal southwest chairmanship position of the party, subject to final ratification by the national office of the party.

“The meeting also deliberated on the composition of the local government caretaker committee members in the state. Stakeholders of the party in all the 332 wards were therefore directed to present a nominee each for consideration for the caretaker committee to be constituted soonest.

“The stakeholders were given a week to submit the names of the nominees for onward presentation to and consideration of the leader of the party, who will then forward the nominees to the state Assembly.”

Communique Issued At The End Of Stakeholders Meeting Of The PDP, Osun State, Held aon Wednesday, 9th Of August 2023

Stakeholders of the Osun state Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party met today, Wednesday, 9th of August, 2023, to deliberate on matters bordering on developments in the party in the State.

The meeting which had in attendance, the executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke and other critical Stakeholders of the party deliberated on wide range of issues.

The following communique was therefore issued at the end of the meeting.

1. The meeting deliberated extensively on the filling of the vacant position of the southwest zonal chairmanship of the party occasioned by the unfortunate death of the former chairman, Hon Soji Oluwatukesi Adagunodo.

2. As directed by the national leadership of the party and in consultation with leaders of the party in the zone, the meeting nominated Barrister Ajisafe Kamarudeen to fill the vacant zonal southwest chairmanship position of the party, subject to final ratification by the national office of the party.

3. The meeting also deliberated on the composition of the local government caretaker committee members in the state. Stakeholders of the party in all the 332 wards were therefore directed to present a nominee each for consideration for the caretaker committee to be constituted soonest.

4. The Stakeholders were given a week to submit the names of the nominees for onward presentation to and consideration of the leader of the party, who will then forward the nominees to the state Assembly.

5. The meeting commends the Executive Governor of Osun State and leader of the party, for his large heart and maturity with which he has been handling affairs of the state. The Governor was especially commended for his open approach in the appointment of the recently sworn-in Commissioners and Special Advisers amongst several of his actions and policies.
