Bandits have reportedly attacked intending pilgrims.

THE NATION REPORTERS reports that some bandits attacked intending pilgrims coming to Sokoto from the Isa Local Government Area.

The bandits allegedly attacked the pilgrims’ caravan along Gundumi woodland, but their security guards stopped them.

A native of Isa town, Malam Sirajo, while verifying the incidence, said the intending pilgrims were able to escape unharmed, and that some of them were restored to Sarkin Gobir Isa’s palace.

Sirajo said, “They attacked their convoy, which was being escorted by security operatives who were said to have engaged the bandits for some minutes.

“We learnt that some of the operatives sustained injuries, which I cannot verify”

While confirming the attack, the Permanent Secretary, Sokoto State Scholarship Board, Shehu Muhammad Dange, said there are 21 intending pilgrims from Isa and he could not ascertain their condition.

Confirming the incidence, the acting spokesperson of Sokoto State Police Command, ASP Ahmad Rufa’i said he has received news of the attack.
