THE NATION REPORTERS reports that Usman Abubakar-Rimi, an undergraduate who became a food vendor during the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike, has passed away.

The deceased was a Medicine and Surgery final-year student of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS).

Abubakar-Rimi opened a food outlet in the Diplomat area of Sokoto. He died on Wednesday after a brief illness.

The death was confirmed to NAN on Saturday by the Chairman of 21st Century Entrepreneur Hub, Umar Idris.

Idris said the deceased had been buried according to Islamic rites in his hometown in Rimi Local Government Area of Katsina.

Abubakar-Rimi was described as a humble person and a dedicated student and entrepreneur.

In September, the deceased told NAN that he ventured into the food business due to the prolonged ASUU strike.

The late student also recalled that he used the COVID-19 lockdown to start an egg and chicken distribution business.
