Football is one of, if not the most popular sport on Earth. It attracts fans from all over the world, who all share the same crazy zeal for this sport. The driving force behind this love for the sport is of course the football players that amaze we the fan, week in week out.
This game has seen a lot of all time greats, superstars even in the view of those that don’t really watch the game, from the days of Pele, Maradona, Cruyff, Van Basten, Ronaldo El Fenomeno, Zidane and the likes, to our current crop of superstars, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar Jr, Luis Suarez, Karim Bemzema, Luka Modric… although most of the aforementioned players are now having the sun set on their illustrious career.
But still we have promising youngsters that are stars in their own rights, so in this article we’ll be looking at the top 10 best players in the world currently (this list only contains players plying their trade in Europe so unfortunately the GOATS won’t feature).

10.) Saka: Arsenal and England starboy rapidly becoming a main man. What makes Saka very special is that he seems to be getting better every season, if he continues in this trend, it’s certainly a matter of time before we see him higher on this list.

9.) Pedri: Another promising youngster on the list, Pedri is revered highly in the eyes of football fans around the world, possessing technical ability only few of his pairs could claim to have, it’s no surprise he became a starter for both the Barcelona and Spain senior team at the age of 19. However he stands the risk of dropping lower on this ranking, considering how he’s rarely fit nowadays, both if remains fit for the rest of his career, there’s no too much doubt on if he’ll end up on the all time great list.

8.) Vini Jr: A huge brazilian talent with the world at his feet. Vinicius Jr has come a long way, from being a flamboyant winger with all the tricks in the world and no end product, to becoming a devastating attacking threat from the flanks, and it doesn’t seem like he’s done developing either. Scary times for non Madrid fans, scary times…

7.) Jude Bellingham: 20 years of age, big transfer to European giants Real Madrid, all the pressure in the world to justify the hefty price tag, and he took to it like a fish in a pond. No one could have predicted he’ll score as much as he’s currently doing, I’m not even sure many can explain it, but still he’s doing it. In just a few months at Real Madrid, he has broken and set new goalscoring records… as a midfielder. If you need a context on how big a talent this kid is, he nearly singlehandedly lead Borussia Dortmund to the Bundesliga Title last season, need we say more?

6.) Virgil Van Dijk: The wall of Liverpool, even though he’s form has been shaky of late, there’s no doubt that on his day, there’s no better CB anywhere else in the world. Brought in by Liverpool by a huge fee and he has done more than justify the price tag, delivering several trophies as well as stellar performances along the way, he’s without a doubt one of the best in the world.

5.) Mohammed Salah: Probably the only name bigger than Van Dijk in Liverpool currently. You can’t look past Mo Salah when mentioning the best players in the world, one of the most feared face by defenders all over the world and when you look at his stats you’ll understand why.

4.) Kevin De Bruyne: Yeah, we know he can’t stay fit to save his own life, but you’ll have to admit, when he’s fit there’s no one in the world better than him in his position. The ability to grab a game by the scruff of the neck, from the position plays, requires otherworldly abilities, and he certainly possess that. Just watch him and you’ll understand.

3.) Harry Kane: A modern day goalscoring machine, there are few people that can find the back of the net as well as he does, probably only two. Supreme goalscoring stats at England, determined to prove he’s more than one league show, he’s arrived at Bundesliga and has quickly become a worry for the opposition defence. Perhaps what sets him apart from other 9s in the sports is that, he’s more that just a goal scoring threat, he has an amazing passing technique that not even too much midfielders possess and is great at also holding up play. He’s certainly every manager dream 9.

2.) Erling Haaaland: Don’t think I need to say too much about him, we all know what he does, we know he’s the best at what he does, there’s no one in the world better than him at doing what he does and what does he do? He score goals, simple. We knew he was good at Dortmund, but nobody could have foretold he’ll do the madness he did at his first season in the Premier League. There’s little to no premier league goalscoring record standing since he arrived, if there’s any, we can all agree on one thing, it’s just a matter of time before he breaks it. He’s so good, that we seem to sometimes forget, he’s still a youngster and he’s still going to get even better. It’s not too hard to predict that if he can  stay fit for the rest of his career, there’ll be no goalscoring record left standing once he decides to hang his boot.

1.) Kylian Mbappe: Perhaps the only one capable of hindering Haaland from the Numero uno title. Kylian Mbappe is certainly one of, if not the best young talent we’ve seen in this game. On his day, there’s no defense capable of stopping him, he has the ability to singlehandedly (literally) obliterate any defence he faces, with the neck breaking pace he possesses and his amazing ball striking technique, with a finishing ability not too many in the history of football, there’s too many attributes in the feet of a single player. He’s still maturing, which means we haven’t even really seen his best.
